This exercise should be a clear demonstration on how to colour a Manga drawing successfully step-by-step. Here we show a young girl, who sits in front of her computer. The initial drawing was achieved with a COPIC Multiliner SP with a line width of 0.1 mm (for the hair and details of the eyes) and 0.3 mm (for the pullover etc.) on a COPIC alcohol marker pad.
First of all choose a basic and general skin tone (E51) for the face, etc. |
| To give the face some depth, place shadows besides the eyes and at the base of the hair; and add E21 below the chin for contras. |
| Colour the hair with YR04 and YR07 (for shadow), and leaving white spaces for the highlights. |
| The iris of the eyes are coloured with R32 and RV02. |
| Then use marker BV00 for the pullover and colour the shadows with darker colours B32 and B26 to add volume. |
| Use the COPIC Airbrush with a gray marker (C03) to colour the monitor |
| Lastly, add an interesting screen tone of gradating lines. And voilĂ , you have achieved a fine work of art! |
